Essential Job Duties
✔ Coordinates and supervises athletic trainer coverage for local sporting events and camps.
✔ Oversees operation of athletic trainers at Southern Utah University, and training room operation/policy; and provides acute medical care to injured athletes "on the field" during practices or sporting events.
✔ Helps negotiate written contracts with participating organizations. Monitors contract obligations to assure compliance by Intermountain and participating organization.
✔ Establishes lines of communication between coaches, medical providers, all SUU department staff, administrators and athletes.
✔ Develops physician referral network including family practice, sports medicine, and physical therapy, dental, orthopedic and other specialties as needed.
✔ Facilitates patient entry into the health care system and properly track and document these referrals. Educates the other athletic trainers about data tracking.
✔ Participates in the health science curriculum at the university in cooperation with County school district, State board of education and Southern Utah University.
✔ Organizes continuing education opportunities for athletic trainers, physical therapists and other medical professionals.
✔ Maintains accurate medical documentation and financial data.
✔ Will be engaged in process improvement for the Sports Medicine Team
✔ Responsible to communicate to the Athletic Department Administration of SUU.

✔ This person will have 4 direct report Assistant ATs and 4 Interns/GAs
✔ This position is listed as Associate Athletic Director at SUU.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements
✔ Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (degree will be verified).
✔ Utah State Athletic Trainer license eligible.
✔ National Board of Certification Number
✔ Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers.
✔ Five years experience as an athletic trainer.
✔ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
✔ Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Excel and PowerPoint.
✔ Demonstrated effectiveness with interpersonal relationships (i.e., athletes, school administrators and coaches, physicians, etc).

Physical Requirements
✔ Carrying, crawling, hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.

Preferred Requirements
✔ Strong team management, relationship building and problem solving skills
✔ Previous experience in a D-1 Athletic Department
✔ Previous experience in managing teams, projects, process improvement, and strong communication skills
